Two wanted criminals, who are said to be linked to foreign-based gangsters, have been arrested by the Delhi Police in the Kapashera area following an encounter, an official said on Friday.
According to the police, the accused have been identified as Akash Rajput, a native of Ganganagar in Rajasthan who was involved in a kidnapping case in Gujarat where a demand of Rs 100 crore ransom was made, and Mahipal Meena from Rajasthan’s Bharatpur.

“The two were members of the Jagdish, alias Jagla–Abhishek, alias Golu gang, which recently joined forces with fugitive gangster Rohit Godara and his network,” said ACP Pramod Singh Kushwah.
While probing the case, the police found that Godara, who was connected to Canada-based gangsters Goldy Brar and Virender Charan, wanted to use the allied gang’s network to strengthen his presence in Delhi-NCR after many of his key shooters were neutralised.
“Rajput is reportedly wanted in numerous cases of extortion, kidnapping, and attempted murder spanning Haryana, Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Punjab,” the officer mentioned in his statement.
The Rajasthan Police have announced a Rs 20,000 reward for any information leading to the capture of Rajput in connection with an attempted murder case filed in Sri Ganganagar. In July 2022, he was named in a firing outside a Karnal hospital, allegedly directed by gangster Daler Kotia.
In Kachchh, Gujarat, this July, Rajput was implicated in a kidnapping case involving a ₹100 crore ransom demand by fugitive gangster Kiritsinh Zala. He is also wanted in multiple cases across Sri Ganganagar, Karnal, and Fazilka in Punjab for crimes including attempted murder, firing for ransom, and Arms Act violations, the police said.
“Acting on intel received from sources, a trap was laid on the Najafgarh-Kapashera road on the night between Thursday and Friday. The two suspects riding a motorcycle without a number plate were stopped early Friday morning,” the ACP said.
“When asked to stop, the pillion rider jumped off the bike and fired at the police team. As the police retaliated by firing back, a bullet hit him on the lower part of his body. Police arrested both the accused from the spot and sent the injured suspect to a hospital,” the officer said.
Rajput’s associate, Mahipal, was arrested in the Karnal hospital firing case and was out on bail. The police have seized arms and ammunition from the accused, he said.
“A probe is on to identify the other operatives of the gang,” the ACP said.
